I tend to give thanks for the same blessings each Thanksgiving – to be alive, to have enough to eat, my faith, etc.
But this year, Thanksgiving should be extra special. It’s sad to say, but many of us lost loved ones to COVID-19. We, ourselves, have survived the Pandemic for now. (for now because we are still living the Pandemic). Besides, we still have our lives to live.
During the isolation and lockdown in 2020, I got used to being mostly by myself. My husband, Dio, was classified an essential worker at Wegmans and kept working his full-time shifts. During this last year, I got comfortable staying at home, and felt secure in “my turf”. Yet, things happened to bless my life.
I moved to another apartment this past summer which has been a blessing in disguise. Not only is it a bigger apartment, but I have made new friends. Though Covid-19 still keeps us social distancing, now I yearn to be with friends. I mean, not all the time, maybe once or twice a week.
Even my grandkids have gone through a transformation of some sort. They were in remote learning mode for school. For the younger of the two, it proved to be challenging. He couldn’t wait to go in person to school. He’s very happy to be going to school 5 days a week! Go figure!
I repeat, this year is a special one to be thankful. I’m sure that each of us has something new to appreciate. I know I do. The most cherished ones are:
**A new neighborhood to enjoy my walks. You can read about it in Browncroft Walks .
**A new appreciation to attend live Mass after being isolated during lockdown 2020. This situation deepened my faith. You can read about other blessings during the pandemic in Pandemic 2020.
**A writing coach and me clicking together on faith and in writing.
** New neighbors that always have a welcome smile and their friendly pets reaching out to me.
Life is good! With all that has happened in the last year, I can still say that Life has been good to me. I am alive and in fair health. I have a family who loves me.
Thank you God for all the blessings received this year. Thank you for opening my eyes to certain realities that were hidden in front of me. Thank you again for always being there!
I think gratitude is the key that unlocks our faith and leads us to God which is why I love that we can access it every day. I hope you enjoy my little word play with gratitude. I am so grateful that you are spending time reading my blog. Please leave a comment below and tell me what you’re most grateful for this year!
Grateful to God who always has our backs.
Rejoice and be thankful for we have survived the Pandemic.
Appreciate those who sacrifice themselves for others.
Thank God for His providence in this special year of pain.
Ideally, we should give thanks for our blessings each day!
Truly, gratitude creates in us a bond to God in a loving way.
Universal gratefulness – keeps us charitable unto others.
Do Cherish Life for what it really is…
Enjoy each other’s company in family reunions with friends. And, above all, delight in the joy of knowing God loves us all!
Revised Nov/25/2021
It was a gratifying experience reading your blog. I just love the way you have conquered life in your own special ways and help others rejoice in their faith. Thank you ❤🙏
It was great hearing from you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m still working on my blog – baby steps! It’s still an on going process.
I loved reading your blog. I love to hear other people’s experiences also. I too am trying to figure out this internet stuff lol. I am most thankful for my family.
Thank you! I have other experiences that I am writing into a book.
I love this! God is so good and so faithful and will never let us down. He knows what we need when we need it and he is with us even in the hard times. I recently went through a rough patch and I found myself asking God to help me find the joy in this situation because I know God is good and I am grateful for everything he has done for me. And guess what… he answered! Ask and you shall receive! lol I think what helped me the most though is being grateful. Like you said “gratitude is the key that unlocks our faith”. This is what helps us walk by faith and not by sight. Thanks for this lovely post!
I appreciate your words. I read somewhere that gratitude is how you can reach out to God. Everyday I thank Him for all the blessings I have received!
This is beautiful and a true reminder of why we should continually be grateful. Those little things we sometimes take for granted are indeed the big things that we can celebrate everyday. This was an on time reminder. Congratulations on your move and connecting with new people.
I agree! If you open your eyes to it, you will always be grateful! Everyday there are little miracles that keep blessing us! Be aware and you will find them all over!
Appreciated the reflection and challenge to be grateful. LOVED the acrostic!!! Thank you.
I used to be a teacher in Puerto Rico. Acrostics are used a lot in school to give special messages to someone being honored. I also used it in my classroom as a type of poetry writing together with concrete and lantern poems.
I greatly appreciated this post! I almost lost my husband to covid, as he was in a hospital, on a vent for 13 days. He is here, just as wonderfully alive as he was before he got sick. God certainly has our backs, as you mentioned. I personally, am so grateful for many things in this life, and deeply appreciate what you have written. I am happy to see someone delighted in the postive’s of the pandemic, and not the negatives. Thank you and may your blessings continue!
I am touched by what you and your husband have been through! Lately, I tend to see the silver lining in most situations. It’s my way of handling the situation and leaving it up to God!
Life is hard enough… and with God’s help I look around to see something good out of the negative moments. This has helped me move forward. May God send you and your husband many blessings and good health in the New Year and always!

Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have
any problems with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and
I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any solutions to stop hackers?
At this time, I have not been hacked yet. I think I have been lucky. I pray to God that it won’t happen!
Useful information. Lucky me I discovered your web site accidentally, and I’m stunned why this twist of fate didn’t came about earlier!
I bookmarked it.
Thank you! I am in the process of posting a couple of things in the coming days.
Way cool! Some extremely valid points! I appreciate you penning this write-up plus the rest of the

Belo post, compartilhei com meus amigos.
Gracias! Me alegro que le guste!
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my
own blog and was curious what all is needed to get setup?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% certain. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Hi there!
I was able to take a blogger’s course where I learned how to set up my blog. Unfortunately, the course I participated is no longer available. You could try with Tracie Forbes.
